Palm Cockatoo
The Palm Cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus) is a large black Cockatoo. They inhabit the tip of Cape York (Australia), Papua New Guinea and Aru Island. Their large crest, facial patch, large bill and range of calls make them quite distinctive.
The large beak is used to crack open seed pods, seed and fruits as well as to help create a layer of splinters in the nest. The facial patch and crest are used to display the birds mood e.g the facial patch may go bright red when the bird is excited or aroused. This bird was photographed at Adelaide Zoo in South Australia.
Palm Cockatoo belongs to the following groups:
Animal Kingdom, Queensland, The Birds and Zoophoria (2 per day, approval required) Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Meant to add … share your love of birds, particularly Australia’s. They make the coolest array of sounds you could every hear! And enliven any environment with their presence. Your images of them are all highly enjoyable.
