The Sea Lion, a reproduction of a 3-masted, square-rigged 16th century English merchant vessel, is located on Lake Erie in the harbor at Barcelona, New York (USA). It was commissioned in 1985 thanks to contributions from area residents, businesses and foundations…and while it has fallen on hard times, it is slated for restoration in the near future.

I am a retired high school English teacher living in northeast Ohio with a particular interest in photographing lighthouses. As I write this, I have photographed 184 lighthouses…at least one on each of the Great Lakes plus numerous Atlantic Coast lights from Maine to North Carolina. My primary camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XSi…and I use either a Canon Powershot G12 or a Canon Powershot SX120 as backup.

A beautiful shot Jack! I’m so glad to hear that it is slated for restoration. It would be such a waste for the grand ship this used to be if they just let it rot there. You will have to go back when its done and get another pic!

  • Hope they get busy with the restoration soon…thanks for the comment…appreciated as always.
