The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse by

Located at the southern end of the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City, Michigan, the Old Mackinac lighthouse (on Lake Huron) is now a maritime museum. It was built in 1892 and deactivated in 1957.

I am a retired high school English teacher living in northeast Ohio with a particular interest in photographing lighthouses. As I write this, I have photographed 184 lighthouses…at least one on each of the Great Lakes plus numerous Atlantic Coast lights from Maine to North Carolina. My primary camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XSi…and I use either a Canon Powershot G12 or a Canon Powershot SX120 as backup.

  • Thank you so much! One of my favorite lighthouses and one of my favorites of my lighthouse photos. I’m delighted to have it featured.
