The 30 foot Owls Head lighthouse sits atop a hill located on an active Coast Guard facility at the entrance to the harbor in Rockland, Maine. It was built in 1825 and remains an active aid to navigation.
I am a retired high school English teacher living in northeast Ohio with a particular interest in photographing lighthouses. As I write this, I have photographed 184 lighthouses…at least one on each of the Great Lakes plus numerous Atlantic Coast lights from Maine to North Carolina. My primary camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XSi…and I use either a Canon Powershot G12 or a Canon Powershot SX120 as backup.
