At 613 feet, the Smolen-Gulf bridge, near Ashtabula, Ohio, in northeastern Ohio’s Ashtabula County, is the longest covered bridge in the United States.

I am a retired high school English teacher living in northeast Ohio with a particular interest in photographing lighthouses. As I write this, I have photographed 184 lighthouses…at least one on each of the Great Lakes plus numerous Atlantic Coast lights from Maine to North Carolina. My primary camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XSi…and I use either a Canon Powershot G12 or a Canon Powershot SX120 as backup.
