acyrlic. this was a very challenging piece for me. it took almost 3 years for me to complete, partly because of the detail, but mostly because it was emotionally draining. when i started painting, i had no idea it would develop into a symbolic self portrait. the look in the shark’s eye became more frightened than threatening; its body language still remains ambiguous to me. is it withdrawing into a protective coil or opening up? i guess only time will tell…
