THE THOUGHT COLLAPSED THEN NEATLY RETURNED

I knew as did you,
I hated this curse-ful mood,
Searching for unused words,
I just can’t help looking back,
The distractions kept coming,
I tried to switch them off,
Would silence and solitude do?
I really wish I knew,

Sleep caught me in a net,
Deep and entangled devoid,
Time speeding useless,
Sleep bleeding youthfulness,
Helpless hapless or both,
I could feel the two,
Pulling tugging at me and you,

Around the scattered remains,
Of yesterdays news,
Skies swollen and bruised,
The sun and the moon drunken and confused,
Had lost the stars,
Trapped behind bars,
The thought collapsed,
Then neatly returned,

They had finished their game,
The hallowed slut and the madness Dame,
The sky only knew their names,
Music begins to fill my ears,
And the moonshine slowly burns my side,
I’ll take it in any empty chance,
As the lazy shadows dance,

I was just told a tale of woe,
Did it have to end that way?
Did it have any worth?
Well I don’t know,
As I head to the bars,
To find them lost and fallen stars,
To muse and battle why,
Souls and hearts strum on,

All this ricocheting from my breath,
All this in my dying wish,
My life clenched in my fist,
Rain and tears beating,
Gentle on my chest,
I’m held out in one last dream,
As ink runs out,
The crowd breathe out,
One lost shout.
