Wool, Rosin, Blue, Sound, and Healing
This is a response to a poem/short story my husband wrote, titled Snow blue sky and disease.
Wool, Rosin, Blue, Sound, and Healing belongs to the following groups:
Core [C.O.R.E], Graphic Scratch, Light In The Darkness, Live, Love, Dream: , Masterpieces: Literary Workshop, The Healing Journey, Unconventional Artistry - 3 per day and Who are YOU to Judge? The Wool.
She knits the blanket,
And remembers the fiddler’s song and
Smiles, while
Steady stitches warm her hands.
Knit one.
She pulls at the yarn, and fragments fly.
Like dust mites in a shaft of light
Like snow,
Remember the snow?
Snow.
The Rosin.
He gathers his rosin
and bow from the case,
Ponders the sheet music,
And plays.
Purl two.
As his fingers vibrate—she dreams of his return.
Rosin swirls—brilliant—moving stars.
Hot burning rosin
Did you see the smoke curl?
Stars.
The Blue.
Kokopelli plays a fiddle.
I saw it on the internet.
It is not a flute. The fiddle.
sounds like the wind from a cavern beneath the earth.
Knit one.
Or long deep breaths from the belly of the whale.
The notes reverberate, climb,
And stretch to black then blue.
Did you hear his notes sail?
Sky.
The Sound.
He watched it snow,
In 65 degree weather.
A dusting from the cherry trees
Danced around the laughing maidens.
Purl two.
One said, “If I could be anything,
I would be a cherry blossom, because in Japanese
‘Cherry blossom’ sounds like ‘oh’ in English.”
Did you see the pirouettes?
Oh.
The Healing.
Stitching over her work, she pricked her finger and
Blood flooded the landscape,
And fed the ancient serpent.
The fiddler places salve on her wounds,
Cast off.
And draws out the toxins.
He watches her as she dreams
Of the time of nectarines and oranges-
Oranges covered in tissue.
Did you know oranges laugh when peeled?
Renewal.
