Stain glass and glass beads on glass
Mosaic

One of the reasons I like this mosaic, the glass was glued to glass and so the original looks pretty up at the window.

By the way the original is for sale too!!!

Ever since the beginning of memory, I drew, painted, and crafted. As a child, above our family couch was a painting of lush woods and trail leading to a cottage house. I followed the trail with my mind’s eye and invented a family that lived in the cottage. Sometimes I would ”sit“ under a painted tree and imagine the world of the painting. My orientation shifted, I was no longer sitting on the couch, I was under the artfully rendered tree. This was the beginning of a love affair with art.

beautiful mosaic, Beth… wil you be firing it in the kiln ? I admire those with the patience to do inticate mosaics… a lovely work here. peace

  • Good morning Doug,
What would happen if I fired it in kiln? Would the glass and grout meld together? It is placed on a simple glass sheet so you can see through it.

Is there some way to gradually heat the piece to the point of melding? Thanks for the generous comment.
    Peace to you

hello, Beth-I fear you are too late after grouting, although I have never attempted such a thing. Glass fires at a lower temp than ceramics and in future you might try placing the mosaic on a sheet of fusible glass, clear, tinted, whatever and firing the piece to fuse the pieces together. A local glass studio might be able to supply the glass and maybe a class on the technique. Peace

  • very cool… in a very hot way… Thanks my friend. Beth
