Print making
Experiment
Homage to Janis Zroback…
It was very exciting to see the piece unfold… As soon as I lifted the paper I thought of Janis Zroback’s delicious art.
This weekend, Kap2001 a friend and fellow bubbler, showed me a nifty print making technique.
plexi-glass plate scratched with a stylus or printmaking scribe, with watercolor pencil rubbed on the lines and then an impression from the plate is reflected on wet drawing paper.
nontoxic printmaking…
In this example, I did not fuzzy over it with more color pencil. Was created with just a watercolor pencil.

This is wonderful Izzybeth, and I feel honoured that you named it after me…I love what you achieved here…it is the kind of spontaneous results only watercolour can produce…and of course you can experiment with the technique to achieve all sorts of different results…
izzybeth replied
Hi Janis,
I am happy you like it, I was a little hesitant. Spontaneous and thrilling it is, because you never know how the next one will turn out. That day I used two different scribes. One cut deep and rough and the other was fine on the plexi-glass. I really liked the effect of the first scribe.

You can try the technique using styrofoam as well…

Interesting technique izzy! and quite lovely results too. I can see a lot of potential here. making me think more about using glass plates to print from (something else I’ve ben wanting to try for years :-)
izzybeth replied
Thanks Jeffery, I noticed the more rough and textured the scratches were in the plastic, the more easily the watercolor pencil adhered and exploded once the water hit the paint.

Thank you, it was great fun. Except my hand had a cramp for days after I made these, because the plexiglas was s hard to scrape.
