Eucalyptus ovata
swamp gum’s are highly sensitive to light and the absence of it; they grow rapidly into an opportunity for it, and quickly lose their leaves when an overhanging shade form is “sensed”; their rapid growth from relatively vertical to relatively horizontal, and the imbalance that this results in, means that they often collapse or break off before they are ten years old.
