Yellow Rumped Warbler by

This is the winter plumage of the yellow rumped warbler… quite common in Virginia in the winter. You hear them all over the place flitting in and out of the cover. This one had been busy eating Myrtle berries. Striking bird in it’s spring plumage with a nice black mask.

Taken in Chesapeake, Virginia, next to a pond off Blackwater road.

Shot with a Nikon D90 and a Sigma 500mm

One mean looking butter butt! Or maybe the wax myrtle berries had induced a belch. I love the bokah and what looks like late afternoon light.

  • I thought he was singing!
