‎"HUNTING GROUNDS"
A Great Gray Owl’s wings are virtually silent while in flight, as it typically flies low to the ground in search of prey. The Great Gray Owl hunts mainly at night, in meadows and open fields with shrubbery. It will frequently forage in the daylight hours, like the one shown. Low trees, bushes and fence posts are used as lookouts. Its piercing eyes help locate prey from very far away and its highly acute hearing helps it detect the sounds of small rodents scampering under the snow or through the grasses in a field. Sometimes the Great Gray Owl dives feet first and seizes rodents with its sharp talons.

An informative and aesthetically-pleasing depiction of a beautiful bird of prey. So many things about this image
are well done from the composition (wings on a diagonal angle), capture of the eyes and talons, fine detail in the wings. If this were a play there would be a curtain call demanded. Bravo Sandy.
