“DOWN TO BARE BONES”
When it comes to diet, the Bald Eagle is an opportunistic feeder. In some areas they feed mainly on fish, especially trout and salmon during the spawning season. They also rely on carrion ( shown) during the winter months. They scavenge carcasses up to the size of whales, though they seem to prefer ungulates and large fish. Bald Eagles prey on raccoons, rabbits, muskrats, beavers and fawns, as well as shorebirds, like ducks, gulls, coots, egrets, geese and grebes. — at Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada.
