Evening Grosbeaks are Finches. They breed from British Columbia east to Nova Scotia and south to northern New England, Minnesota, the mountains of Mexico, and California.They winter south to California, Texas, and South Carolina and nest in coniferous forests and visits deciduous woodlands and suburban areas in the winter.

Evening Grosbeaks eat seeds of shrubs and trees, juniper berries, pinion nuts, maple sap, seeds and buds of deciduous trees and shrubs. They also consume insects during the breeding season.

Taken at 1/640’s at f/8, -1EV, 400 mm, iso 800, man wht balance 6050 kelvin.

Contrast adjustment and slight color saturation in Lightroom. Sharpened in PhotoshopCS2 via lab mode, duplicate layer, lightness channel, unsharp mask ( amount 30, radius 3, threshold 3). No cropping.

I’ve been sharing my yard with other photographers who would also like to capture them. I’m feeding them, so hopefully they might stick around for awhile. : )
