When I looked outside an hour before sunset I saw that the clouds were looking decent, however, it didn’t look like there would be a good break on the horizon for the sun to shine through.
I decided that I’d head out to Cowichan Bay anyhow and the ‘first’ sunset, which was on the marina side, was rather average and uninspiring. This was pretty much what I expected but I know that it ain’t over until it’s over and so I hung around longer.
When I looked towards Mt Prevost (seen in the photo) the first signs of what was to come came in the form of a great orange glow coming from behind the mountain. Then the glow got more and more intense and that was when I started shooting in that direction.
Another ten or so minutes later the sky exploded with an intense red and it ended up being one of the nicest sunsets I have seen.
