My area isn’t prone to frequent storms, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll be out there with my camera when one does roll in. Taken on Nov 2nd, 2009 in Inverloch, Australia.

Very Nice, well done.
Thanks Mark :)
Beauty! Excellent capture, Steph!
Thanks Daniel. I love your lightning shots. Nothing like the rush of a storm.

Wow, great shot Steph… so well captured…
Thanks Puggs :)
What a great lightning shot. Well Done.
Thanks Andrew :)
Top shot Steph ! We just don’t get enough quality storms down here do we… I’ll bump into you out there some day/night. :)
Thanks Tony. Yes, I’d love a few more storms down here :) I’ve seen some of your work in the local gallery – beautiful stuff!
Excellent shot Steph! I’m really interested to know how you took it. It looks like it might be a long exposure, maybe 2 or 3 seconds? I love all the different light elements.
Thank you Matt. This was about a 30 second exposure at f/13, ISO 500. Once the sun has gone down completely, you can leave your shutter open for as long as it takes for the lightning to go off basically. Some shots I did were only 5 – 10 secomds where as others were longer, especially if you want multiple strikes to show up in the same shot. And, of course, a good tripod – and don’t stand under a tree :D
Thanks for the info Steph. (Especially about not standing under a tree!) I love pushing the limits of my camera and playing with light. I guess it is a similar technique to fireworks. Keep up the great work and don’t get struck by lightning!! :)
WOW what a capture!!! Great work :)))))))))))))))))))
