The Dream Thief

Lurking in conspicuous corners
I am the dream thief
Wrapped in packages of
Overbearing “advice”
“Oh, you don’t know what
to do with your future?
I have many imagined scripts to give out
With every possible ending,
Won’t you be a part in my play?”
Yes, it is a comedy
While I am the only one laughing-
Ha, the only one left to watch
Marauding dreams, no particular one-
I can twist them all to my liking
In my forge of repetition
With glitter covered cardboard
That you mustn’t look behind
Or read too closely
Or touch with reality
Come, be a part in my play
And let me watch
And laugh
And laugh
And laugh!
