As what they have in common
Is oh, so easily missed

Étaples had a bull ring
That’s thankfully long gone
But the modern one in Birmingham
Remains and forges on

The Bull Ring to our Tommies
A place feared by them all
The Bull Ring to the Brummies
Just a great big shopping mall

In France the lads were terrorised
To make them fit to fight
A shopping mall employs subtle tricks
To make the price seem right

Both are home to people
That use their clever games
On meek, unwitting others
To further their own aims

I know it’s very tenuous
The making of this link
But all I really aimed for
Was just to make you think.
