I’m actually going to have to credit someone else for this….creation, I’m not quite sure whether or not they’d approve but this is my approximation of Peter Booth’s ‘Painting 1978’ which can be seen by clicking on this lovely underlined text:
One of the things I took particular joy in editing was the addition of Sir Patrick Star. Why you ask? Look at the original image! Look at it! Do you see it? It’s awesome right? Like some sort of 1970’s, mid nuclear blast incineration, fun version of the beloved starfish….one that obviously forgot to wear shorts.
However the more glaring difference between this little diddy of a painting and the original, as you’ve no doubt noticed, is the big green bitey thing with teeth. I called him Rodney, which is handy, y’know, if you need to have him a bit more characterised so he seems more relate-able. Rodney is the embodiment of my aim with this painting: “Peter Booth thinks this is how the world will end (sort of)? Ha! I can make it much worse! Then I can add in a penguin and Nessie because, if I’m honest, that obviously improves anything.”
