Jumping into dark waters just as the sun smeared the horizon, I knew they’d be waiting, looking to feed.
I’m glad of the knife as my torch spears the gloom. For there, in the depths, a myriad of cold eyes await, darkly reflecting the light.
More accomplished hunters than I, they consider my intrusion with hostility, drawn to fresh prey.

Wow Peter, this is good. I’ll probably freak you out but this sounds like my life. And you write it so well with so few words. I bet you can tell I totally related to this. Spoken by someone who has been hunted. Super writing. Smiles from Jane:-)

I think this is why I have always begged off learning how to dive. Although having been out on the ocean many times, the beauty of it all always makes me think twice about the decision.
This piece evokes a lot of memories. Thank you, it is beautiful.

Night dives are different. Go ahead and dive, you won’t regret it.

Made me think of piranhas, I found myself listening for their telltale popping sound…

I enjoyed this a lot. Very descriptive. Like a written snapshot. I just wish it had gone on beyond being a vignette, as I was eager to know what next…
