so much emotion in this shot, especially with all the emphasised textures and dim, dirty lighting. the slight tint of red and green are really nice touches.
Peter Davidson replied
Thanks Lys, but there is no tint. I’ve desaturated the shot if anything But I did bring up the grass a little. The obscene thing is, the Nazi’s painted the tunnel surround a beautiful rose-red.

I love your work!

You’re making me blush …

You have captured so much in this scene Peter and trying to put myself in that position how I would feel if it was my last walk through that tunnel? I think you’ve captured the mood very well. If you had not explained what it was? The black tunnel is not an inviting place to go through. You are very clever Peter, I like it!
Peter Davidson replied
I think it needs the explanation, because as an image it’s nothing special. It’s the history behind that gives the resonance.

Oh, wow. The light at the end of the tunnel was not something to aim for in this case. (Is the tunnel facing the inside of the camp or the outside?)
Natella2020
Never mind. I see it. I should have noticed from the title.
Helene Kippert
You’ve captured an eerie feel here Peter – love the treatment

I wonder, did they know? It is hard to imagine taking that walk….knowing. Your work makes me think….it is good to think, even if it is about such sorrowful things…perhaps those who would do this to to others should do more thinking.

This image is special, the combination of grit + beautiful light. The explaination makes it deeper.

very sad, very poignant, very good photo!

A strong piece of work Peter, the gritty and grimy feel are wholly appropriate for the subject matter, excellent work.
