The Cell, Terezin
This was the cell of the privileged, the non-Jews or political prisoners. Here, maybe fifty men or more would sleep on the wooden bunks, huddled together for warmth after their day of slave labour. the blue really makes this feel cold and lonely while the bright windows open it way up. nice angle and composition. fantastic work bringing out the rough wood textures.
Peter Davidson replied
Thanks Lys, I was trying to convey the coldness and oppression I felt there …

What a history! And it is so strange how something so cruel, we find a way to create art? This is exemplary work Peter!
Peter Davidson replied
Thanks Sylvia, we look for beauty in everything lest we go mad.

the word “Terezin” alone is so chilling, and this image so haunting, yet you have presented it in an appreciably artistic and even beautiful fashion. quite a feat. well done.
Peter Davidson replied
Thank you Judith.

WOW…Very powerful shot with excellent tones and light …the light coming in gives a real sense of the drama
Peter Davidson replied

Imber

This image displays so well the opression and cruelty that people can subject eachother to. It is very powerful but I love the way you have captured it.

yes, haunting is a word I would use also. The spirits of those held here….you do them justice.

You’ve captured the despair in this David. A powerfully haunting image indeed..

I love this image. It’s beautifully dank and depressing, I see the light shining in as almost a tease.. a taste of the world outside, which the inmates could never enjoy. Very powerful.

I can’t imagine what it was like to stand in this room and know what went on here. You’ve conveyed the depressing and cold atmosphere really well.
