The Colossus by Sylvia Plath
First prize for writing in RedBubble’s contest In the Moment.
Published in 1960, by Heinemann, London (88pp). First Edition of Plath’s first book of poetry. It contains 50 poems. including such classics as “Night Shift”, “The Colossus”, “Blue Moles” and “The Beekeeper’s Daughter”.
Plath committed suicide in 1963 and has since gone on to become an icon of English poetry.
This first edition is an original full pale green buckram with dustjacket. It bears the autograph of Anglo-Welsh poet T. H. Jones. Jones was influenced in his poetry by such luminaries as Yeats, Graves, Auden, Blake and particularly Dylan Thomas. He died in Australia in 1965
