The Wormwood Queen by Bethalynne Bajema
This weekend Myke and I will be at an open house to help support the launch of our friend Kate’s Absinthe Tea . While Kate already has a whole line of teas from her own recipes, this Absinthe Tea recipe has been handed down for several generations in her family. Kate and her lovely family have often hosted wonderful gatherings in their beautiful home for our various projects, but this time around it’s all about Kate and her skills with the herbs. I created this image for her, swapping out the idea of the Green Fairy (because
as she pointed out to me her tea is more golden than the green of actual absinthe) for the might of the Wormwood Queen.
The second book of my graphic novel, Cinder and Ash, the Black Ibis Book II features the Green Fairy Cabaret. After a long night of talking with Kate I decided it would be wonderful to have an actual queen reside over this club. The Wormwood Queen was born.
Technique: This is a digital collage with elements of five old (pre-1800s) paintings and my own personal drawings. Along with photograph images from my models.
