Big Brother
This was a great find! Two different species of fungus growing snugly side by side at the bottom of a moss covered fallen log.
The little trio are Mycena leaiana and their big brother is a Suillus granulatus, both species being native Aussie fungi .
The photograph was made in an old pine plantation in off the Maxwell Flat Road in the Cottan-Bimbang# National Park , between Gingers Creek and Wauchope , NSW, Australia, early on an autumn day.
I was on a day trip with a Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club friend who knows the area well and we both spent a good four hours in this plantation photographing the many different varieties of fungi that were on show in some wonderful forest light.
#Cottan-Bimbang is the local Aboriginal name for the Linospadix monostachya (Walking Stick Palms) which are very prominent in the area

I’ve yet got to see a leech on the forest floor, lol. I’ve lived in forests all my life, maybe I have not looked properly, but I only saw them on the dam and consequently on my leg!
