Sprengelia sprengelioides
This little trio of monochrome wildflowers are of the species Sprengelia sprengelioides , an Australian native that grows in heath land in very sandy soil.
They were photographed along Plot’s Fire Trail in the Lake Innes National Park , just south of Port Macquarie , NSW, Australia, on late winter day.
As the flowers are white, the foliage and the background rather dull, I opted for B&W to better show off the little blooms.

Perfect composition and I love the use of black and white here. It highlights beautifully their form and makes for great contrast with the surroundings.
Dennis Gay replied
G’day EC,
The B&W choice was this photograph’s saving grace. If it had not worked this was headed for the virtual rubbish tip.
Happy this trio caught your discerning eye and a warm thank you for your great encouraging “Perfect…” wrap for my lying-on-the-ground efforts.

Just a thought: There would not be any colour photography if there has not been B&W photography. B&W can still provoke very strong responses due to its dramatic look and its ability to remove the distraction of multi-coloured backgrounds etc. Not to be brushed aside too lightly, I feel. 8-)

Looks beautiful in b&w.
Dennis Gay replied
G’day Basia,
I agree, not just because it is mine but because this was one of those images that just fitted B&W so well due to its ability to dispel the distracting affect of colour and background.
Many thanks for taking a walk along the trail and getting down low to admire these otherwise ordinary little Aussie wildflowers and for leavig such a great wrap for my efforts.
