This is gorgeous – it’s fringed petals make it look like frayed fabric (and, no, I didn’t mean for this to be a tongue-twister!!!) Wow! ;o)

    G’day TLEE & MAGEE,

Well girls what can I say but a great big THANK YOU to you both for your combined ”...Wow!” and ”...Beautiful!!” wrap for this thrilling frilled flower. (Try saying that with a mouthful of dry crackers!)

Luckily the rain was just light enough to sprinkle the little lily and not drown it.

    G’day Anne,

Not knowing exactly when in spring these li’l beauties flowered, my camera club wildflower hunting friends and I were thrilled whenever we stumbled across a few in our travels. Then one day I was out on a wildflower hunt and lo and behold there were literally thousands of the blighters along the side of the track I was on.
It was then I knew why the were called COMMON Fringed Lilies! 8-)

Many thanks for taking the trail along the Diamond Head cliff to take a peek at this wild li’l lily and for leaving such a great wrap for my efforts on such a damp day.

    G’day Joyce,

I doubt if you would have these in the States but you may have a few very similar wildflowers somewhere over there.

I am so glad you have enjoyed the experience of viewing this very pretty example of one of Nature’s jewels.
Many thanks for leaving such an enthusiastic and encouraging comment for my wildflower hunting efforts.

    Dennis Gay

    G’day Chris,

Thank you very much for your most generous and encouraging “Best…” wrap for this li’l cliff top beauty. So glad it caught your discerning eye.

I was most fortunate that the rain was so light as on other flowers the fringe becomes soaked and looks very unattractive.

Great sharp macro. Just wondering, is this full frame or cropped (and by how much) ?
    Love the water droplets.

  • Dennis Gay replied

    G’day Ern,

Good to see you out at Diamond head on such a damp morning and that you have spotted this beautiful Aussie lily.
Thank you very much for your most generous and encouraging “Great…” wrap for this li’l cliff top beauty.

I cropped it. If I remember correcty it was about 75% of the frame.
