My rocky perch is absolutely perfect for such shots during autumn/winter due to the angle of the sun in the late afternoon. However it all means naught if the surf is lousy.

Your great “awesome..” wrap for my young surfer is much appreciated kiddo.

I get down the rock face of The Breakwater as low as common sense allows. This give me a wonderful low angle from which to shoot these young guns that then gives the impression I am in the water when you view the photograph/s. I have a funny feeling in my water that I am going to get swamped one day so I keep one eye in the viewfinder and the other eye on the incoming surf. Try making a photograph like that! ;-)

Gorgeous photo, Dennis. Absolutely perfect. The light is fantastic, not the least in the face of the surfer. His expression is wonderful. Really good the way you have “frozen” the water surface and the crest.
My goodness, what a wave. I wish winter was like that up here.

It was probably the biggest surf in which I had photographed the bodyboarders at Town Beach so far. All the kids were having a ball. I didn’t arrive at The Breakwater until late so I must have missed a lot of action. Marvellous winters here in Port. No icebergs!
