The Best Spot

The Best Spot

THE SUBJECT:
Two old mates doing a spot of fishing in the light of a late winter’s afternoon.

THE LOCATION:
Beside the North Haven River at Laurieton, NSW, Australia.

THE MAKING OF ‘The Best Spot’:
I was cruising, (in my car), around the Camden Haven scouting out possible subjects and turned into a little reserve with a jetty that I had not been to before.
With my camera slung about my neck I walked around and was gob-smacked by the glorious light I saw painting over this lovely scene.
Fuji S9600: RAW, f/4.9 @ 1/450sec, Auto focus, ISO80, Hand held.
Lightroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS3.

Certainly does look like the best spot! But were the fish biting? Or maybe just a bit of “Ol fashioned R&R”.

  • Dennis Gay replied 23 days ago

    Cheers CRAIG!

Nice of you to join me to catch this riparian scene.
Many thanks for your interesting and amusing remarks on this work.
They both had a few hits while I was there but I did not see them catch anything. It was probably sausages for dinner that night. 8-)

    Bewdy ANDREW!

Plenty of room around this place for another tripod. Just don’t scare the fish!
Happy to see you have enjoyed the afternoon light and like the composition. Many thanks for the comments.

    Great shot in all aspects.
Such a tranquil place, it really doesn’t matter whether the fish were biting.

  • Dennis Gay replied 23 days ago

    Ciao TRISH!

Lovely to have you join me at Laurieton for some people spotting.
Lotsa thanks for the encourgaement of your “Great shot…” wrap, (in all aspects). 8-)
Well that part of the place was tranquil. Where I was standing there was a dog rushing about leaving its business all over the grass and a paranoid father giving me suspicious looks as he rounded up his little squealing daughter. Oh dear! I have completely spoiled the mood now. 8-)
