Reassurance
THE SUBJECT:
This young couple were arm in arm until they reached the pedestrian crossing. He let go but she held on, reassured by his presence. I had my Fuji trained on them from the moment they stepped off the kerb and hoped that no vehicle or people would get in the way. Photographer’s Luck again!
THE LOCATION:
My favourite caffeine oasis, the Créma Espresso Bar in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia has moved from its riverside location to a larger premises in the CBD. While this means the end of my riparian candid photography it also means the beginning of some serious street shots as the new Créma is on a main intersection.
This shot was made while I was sitting at an outdoor table with a Nikon shooting Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mate. We both had a ball!
THE MAKING of ‘Reassurance’:
Because of the great contrast in the scene I set the exposure with a B&W in mind.
I decided on a softer, grainy effect for this one as I wanted to emphasise the light and lines rather than crisp detail.
Fuji S9600: RAW, Manual settings of f/4.9 @ 1/320sec, Continuous focus, ISO80, Hand held.
Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop.
