THE SUBJECT:
A lone canoeist out on the river in a scene bathed with the last light of a setting sun.
It reminds me of the many photographs of Canadian lake scenes I saw in old National Geographic and other magazines when I was a teenager.

THE LOCATION:
Shot from the south bank of the Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia.

THE MAKING OF ‘Sunset Canoeist #2’:
The photograph was made waaay back with my old workhorse the Fuji S5500. No tripod with me so I opted for an exposure set for the area of brightest sunlight with a small aperture that would then give me a good shutter speed for a supported hand held shot and guarantee a good silhouette.
Fuji S5500: High resolution jpg, f/9 @ 1/120sec, -1EC, ISO 100.
Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3.

    Those rays are known in photographic circles as “god rays”. I don’t know what atheistic photographers call them though. 8-)
