Canoeing the Afternoon Swell
THE SUBJECT:
There is something absolutely beautiful about what the late afternoon autumn sun does in my part of the world.
This canoeist riding the swell of the incoming tide is hit by the great side lighting, giving him a great outline and the canoe a translucent look.
THE LOCATION:
Along the Town Green on the south bank of the Hastings River in Port Macquarie , NSW, Australia.
THE MAKING of ‘Canoeing the Afternoon Swell’:
Fuji S5500: High resolution jpg, 1/500sec @ f/7, ISO 100, Hand held.
Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3.

Many thanks for your very supportive and encouraging “Love this one…” wrap for my riparian efforts.
There are times when the tidal swell meets a strong flow coming downstream and as the tidal swell is always the stronger of the two forces, swells can be twice a big as this and many people use canoes, surfboards or surfskis for a good ride. You’d have a ball mate! 8-)

Great catch, Dennis.
I love the strange glow in the canoe. And the colour of the water. And the composition.
Very well done.
