Tricoryne elatior (Yellow Rush Lily)
This close-up of a small, very delicate Tricoryne elatior (Yellow Rush Lily) was an experiment in using my +10 Dioptre screw-on Macro Lens with Milady Fuji in Super Macro Mode.
It clearly demonstrates just how shallow a depth of field is gives me at f/3.7. In this instance that was a great advantage as I was attempting to photograph the fine texture of the flower’s petals and just what the spring afternoon light was doing to them. That shallow band of “in focus” successfully straddles the two petals I was after and also reveals some of the very soft, very fine detail of the feathery stamens.
The shot was made along a track at Diamond Head, part of Crowdy Bay National Park, Laurieton, NSW, Australia.
Fuji S9600: RAW, f/3.7 @ 1/250sec, Manual focus, Hand held.
Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3.

Oh, you’re really good at these, Dennis. This is beautiful. The lighting is exquisite and delicate, the colours beautifully and invitingly warm, and the depth of field is excellent.
Great work once again.

When I walked back along the track past this one, all that “sparkle” and visible texture was gone as the angle of light had altered ever so slightly. 8-)
