Bottoms Up!
The Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club was holding a still life studio night in our club room. While thing were being set up, I noticed these glasses upside-down on a draining tray on the bench in the bar at the far end of the room.
Attracted as I am to photographing bright, shiny things, I used the opportunity to experiment a bit with White Balance by setting it to Daylight and not using a flash under the mixed lighting in that part of the room.
Instead of a tripod I set the camera up on the top of the bar with the lens hanging over the edge, giving the camera a slight downward tilt.
It was just an experiment to kill time but after I worked on it I think it has merit.
Fuji S9600: Macro, Manual setting of f/4 @ 1/2sec, Manual Focus and Timer.

You have an amazing eye Dennis…......this makes a stunning image; the lighting and the gold tones are superb!!! Indeed it has “merit”!
Dennis Gay replied
G’day Joyce,
Nice of you to drop in to the still life night and to be the very first Bubbler to spot these bright, shiny things.
Thank you so much for your very encouraging and supportive ”...merit…” wrap for my glassy efforts.
My other eye is not too bad either. ;

Sometimes it’s what is around us that attracts our attention…..the artist within is the difference between a snap shot and a work of art!!! Love this!

picketty
Yes but I ‘spose you could have done this in photoshop
Dennis Gay replied
G’day Picketty,
Thanks for dropping by.
Well not really as if you read the narrative you will see this was just an experiement to kill time and if I had made a shot with the WB set to the ambient light the resultant image may well have ended in the virtual rubbish bin.
But yes, you can play with WB in Lightroom or Photoshop for effect.

A great mix of golden highlights and shadows you’ve caught here. You have a good eye to see the potential in the glasses on the draining board.
Dennis Gay replied
Well Hellooooo CJC!
Nice of you to turn up at the studio night and that you have caught sight of this simple still life.
Thank you heaps for your generous and encouraging ”...good eye…” wrap for my glassy photography.
