Pines Against a Rainbow
There I was leisurely sipping a mugga flat white at the Créma Espresso Bar in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia thinking the day was done when one of the waitresses ran up to me saying: “Dennis come outside and see the rainbow. You might want to make a photo of it.” Well I did go outside and here is the result.
It was that close to sunset the streetlights were on and as the rainbow was in the eastern sky, the autumn sun gave the sky and pines a golden glow.
The trees are fine specimens of Araucaria heterophylla (Norfolk Island Pine), an Aussie native that has been the favourite of councils up and down the east coast of Australia for generations but which is now being frowned upon as they are not native to the regions in which thay have been planted. We in Port are still quite proud of our pines.
No time to get the tripod from the car so I stood, leaning hard against a wall, tucking my elbows and the camera in very firmly.
Fuji S5500: f/9 @ 1/52sec, ISO 200, gave me the good exposure and depth.
Lightroom & Photoshop CS3 rendered the fine result.
