Taken in Dec 09 from the Empire State Building, its an incredible view from the top and the lighting was just great for some scenic views. A must visit attraction of New York City.

Brilliant shot and view. :)
Wonderful view Craig …
Amazing perspective and exposure, so jealous I’ve always wanted to go to the ESB. DId you use a tripod? How was your trip did you enjoy it and get pictures of some snow?
Hey Redtree, it was fantastic up there, but fairly windy and cold. No tripods are allowed on the top of ESB or Top of the Rock. However on ESB, there is a fairly decent ledge beyond the fencing, that if your brave you can sit your camera on. I used a neck scarf as a “makeshift bean bag” and positioned the camera with it, then used a wireless shutter release and held onto the strap for dear life.
I did take some photos of snow, but never got into the environments like your images (forests or fields) to take really dramatic photos. We did get stuck in the DC blizzard which was a fun experience!

Great shot Craig… I’m not sure if this was looking east or west but if it’s west then New Jersey (where I live) is just across the river in the background. The views from any of the tall New York buildings really are one-of-a kind.
Jim – Macy’s is at the very bottom of the frame. So in my head at least that means I’m facing west toward New Jersey.
