The Louvre

The Louvre

At first I dismissed this shot, but on revisiting it I found it charming. A lot of my holiday photos were taken with planning and forethough, this shot however just presented itself I snapped it, and kept on enjoying the wonderful architecture. In showing some of my many photos to friends this was very popular so I decided to share it here.

I am also loving this one. The contrast of the old and the new and its symmetry. That sky is perfect and the people bring life and colour to the scene. Just fantastic! Best wishes, again, Michelle.

Terrific shot Craig. Love the balance here between the three amazing structures and that cloud formation sitting perfectly in the background, great job. The sprinkling of people in the foreground really make it.

Great shot, perfectly framed and magic clouds. A great example of when not spending to much time on a shot can be as rewarding as a well planned shot.

It shows off the old and new styles living in harmony. Love the way the floor echoes the glass of the louve.

Craig, this image would make a great subject for that ‘model village’ treatment where everything looks like it’s in miniature.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, Simon are you familar with the model village treatment and how to do it. I know you can do it with a tilt shift lens, or later in post, but I have no idea how.

Craig, this is a fantastic shot. The tilt/shift process is easy enough to do, I just googled tilt/shft technique and found a couple of sites, but I think you need to have a shot from higher up to make it look authentic. Still, its worth a try on the people in the foreground :) It just involves a quick mask gradient and lens blur filter. :)

Thanks Mel, I can’t take credit but it is cool. Perhaps Simon and I can see this one as a “collaboration”.

Love this image Craig! There’s so much depth and lovely light, and I love the way each person stands out so clearly. Fantastic work!

This is really lovely composition as well Craig. The natural symmetry works really well. Have you considered cropping this into a pano? Personally I’d take out a fifth of the image from the top, about the top of the detailed cloud on the left, then I’d take out a little from the emptiness in the foreground. Its a beautiful shot as is, I’m just turning into a pano freak. (a shame redbubble doesn’t offer framing for them though)
