Buff tailed bumble bee washing itself on this lovely yellow flower. I had seen some butterflies here earlier but did not have my camera, I returned later but alas no butterflies! I watched this bee systamatically cleaning itself.
Taken with a canon 450D and a canon 100mm macro lens with minimal processing in cs4.
Taken in Blackburn,Lancashire,uk.
The flower is Inula hookerii, family asteraceae.

kind of defeats the whole purpose of being a pollinator if you clean all the pollen off! superb macro. great burst of yellow. very well composed shot.
