The need to scream

Sometimes
People need to scream
In a sound proof room.
Let the voice boom
Loosening the sound
Of what is so loud
It shouldn’t be contained.
Get the voice-box unpacked!
Let that sound out
Directed
Into the air!
Not at anyone
In particular,
Just at all those things
That have clashed
And strangled
The breath.
Letting it out
So it’s no longer
Inside.
The scream
Has to have its say.
It cannot be framed,
It is not a painting,
It is noise
Harsh and shrill,
Alarming noise,
That if heard
Strikes fear
Into the listener.
But in the sound proof room
Bounces off the walls
And says thankyou,
Thankyou for
Letting me go,
I was stifled
Inside your body.
