Chris Waller lecture

Got to have a point to start the line
Figure it out
What shape shall it take
The design
Is the principle
That works
At the emphasis
Of the symmetry
At the edge
Of the picture plane.
Shapes can achieve
A stressed point
Which portrays
Left over space
Needing activation
No area rest
No area passive
No area lacking
They all contribute
To the total composition.
The possibilities
Continue beyond
The edge,
Contrast the jagged
With the smooth
And push around
These basic concepts
And figures crash,
Counter form
And mind boggle
With the proposition
Of multiple images
Revealing relationships
Demonstrating
These principles at work.
Force the issue
Into black and white
And proceed
Into the unknown.
