It is one thing to be a masochist and take neuroleptics, quite another to be a sadist and add to the psychiatrist’s refrain by being their parrot and telling others that they, ‘Should take their medication’ as if that is helpful advice. It is NOT helpful advice. It is very annoying to hear that from a peer. If they want to do drugs and have a really, really unsteady hand from the side-effects, if they want to have chronic fatigue, depression, nausia, incontinence, diabetes, death before 60 etc, they can go ahead and harm themselves all they like!
When they chime in like a parrot to psychiatry, they make it harder for people like me to stop the laws that allows psychiatrists to ‘treat’ against a person’s will. With the sectioning for no crime other than, ‘appearing to be mentally ill,’ a person is tortured with forced-drugging and ECT. This contravenes the International Declaration of Human rights.

The brainwashing involved in the verbal abuse tactics a psychiatrist uses to coerse and control a patient, denies the persons opinion, by giving threats and fears of more drugs and hospitalisations if they don’t agree that the psychiatrist is helping them and that they are ill and need to take the drugs prescribed them.

Psychiatry is wrong. I feel sorry for people who have become a parrot to it. I do understand how it happens very, very easily. But if you actually think that’s what support is about, you’re really mistaken!

So many books in Australia published about ‘mental health’ and the only ones that get past the Australian publishers are psychiatrist’s parrots.

Initially NO enjoys reading poems in pubs and other venues around Melbourne and will be running West Word in Footscray this year. A poetry group that meets at the Dancing Dog cafe 2pm every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
