Petra Jordan

UNESCO World Heritage Site

Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.

You have been so many beautiful places! This place is on my personal list. How hard is it to get there? How unusual a trip is it?

  • It’s an amazing place. We travelled from Egypt into Jordan and the border crossing on the Egyptian side took 2 hours! The Jordanians were alot quicker. Visas are required on both sides. It was well worth the waiting. I was totally in awe. I would recommend it as a place to visit. Take in the dead sea while you’re there. :)

Fanatastic! I have always been fascinated with this place, though I have never been there. Wasn’t it in an Indiana Jones movie?

  • Yes it was. You can even buy the famous hat on the outside!! It’s a brilliant place. Totally worth the trip :)
