Stream, Weir Track, Stoney Creek

Stream, Weir Track, Stoney Creek

Here is a view of Stoney Creek in Far North Queensland. My friend Margot and myself went for a short walk up the Weir Track which runs parallel to the creek, and took a few photographs along the way.

From the Wet Tropics Website:

Stoney Creek is a popular swimming spot for locals and visitors. You can swim in the creek near the carpark or climb up the old rocky roadway to some isolated and pristine swimming holes amidst the boulders upstream. The walk narrows to a rough path above the creek valley which levels out and meets the creek at the small concrete weir after a kilometre.

I have also made this into a wallpaper, over at flickr.

Excellent B&W Image. Nice contrast between the smoothness of the rushing water and textures of the stones.

The texture of the stones and lichen was marvellous Helen. I think the monochrome view was absolutely necessary to highlight its beauty. Thanks for commenting!

Wow looks great in black and white! I think I prefer these shots like this.. there are a lot in colour – and this is refreshing :)

  • Shaun Johnston replied

Thanks Kelly! I love admiring the tonal qualities of black and white imagery, and this image is bursting with varied tone and texture.

Black and white really makes this…good choice:)

  • Shaun Johnston replied

I agree Caroline! I have another, colour, version of the image over at flickr but I much prefer having this one over here at RB.

Just looked…and excuse me for saying ..but I agree…it’s ‘nice’ but doesn’t have the same impact.

  • Shaun Johnston replied
