Individal flowers are approx 5mm while the flower corymbs are approx 20 cms.
The Elder is kin to the Honeysuckle and has been woven through many lands folklore. It has long been noted for its healing properties and was mentioned in the oldest of British Pharmacopoeia’s. To physicians and Wise Women of Old, it was considered the medicine chest of the country.
Most parts of the Elder are still used today in drinks, cooking, healing poultices, washes, infusions and ointments. One of my favourites is Elderflower cordial. :)
soooooo sublime Trudi – very YUM indeed !!! such a pretty painterly effect – I will have to track down the cordial :)) xx
Thank you Deb – Loving experimenting with the pastels at the moment.. possibly because Spring is around the corner! lol Oh, it is very yum indeedy. I definitely recommend trying the cordial. :) xx
Oh my gosh this is soooo lovely! Simple, elegant and graceful! Love the subtle coloring of the bokeh, in my monitor it seems to go from a delictae shade of blue to a soft green! Excellent focus, excellent composition and capture of light!
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment Joanne! I loved the gradient colouring when I saw the photo. The blue/green colouring is the background from the sky, leaves and flowers. They’re a bit deeper in the original. :)
