Artist's Description

In October 2001 I took my daughter, and her friend to Washington DC. Everyone asked me if I thought it was safe, wasn’t I concerned. We were all still reeling from 9/11.

But I went, I thought it important to show them that terrorists win if we don’t show them that we can get back on our feet, and continue forward.

One evening on a walk back to the hotel, I turned and saw this shot. Washington Monument. I thought about what it took to build the US to what it is today…

I took this picture, and named it Rememberance, so that I would remember Freedom is not Free and that many good people died on one horrible day
