The lamps were being filled with ghee (Indian clarified butter), they would be then put up for sale to be offered to the deity by the devotees visiting the temple.

The shot was taken at Deverajaswamy Temple , Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The temple was built during 14th and 16th centuries.
