I discovered I loved immersing myself in art at a very young age and studied Textile Design and Ceramics at RMIT when I left school. I worked in industry as a printed fabric designer and then in my 30’s returned to study painting and printmaking for 3 years. Apart from a short career in office administration to earn ‘proper’ money for 10 years, most of my life has been focused around art. I currently produce monotypes, etchings, drawings, mixed media works on paper and paintings. I live with my husband who is a potter, our adult daughter Kate is also an artist (something she couldn’t escape).
About My Work
My work is always changing. For me taking chances with my work is a fundamental part of the creative process. My recent more abstract monotypes are based on the landscape and the extremes of nature I have lived with most of my life in rural Australia such as bushfires and drought.
Some of my sources of inspiration include the local landscape, the cities of Melbourne and Geelong, and the docklands. Emotional responses to events in my life sometimes result in work that often surprises me.
