Summer’s memory lingers still
Upon these autumn flowers
Painted in fall’s shimmering kiss
In these early morning hours.
Like the fields of windswept leaves
Such a beautiful death they suffer;
Once so vibrant, they now lie spent
In the embrace of dying colours.
