I write this message for a stranger
and entrust it to the waves
with a prayer that it will arrive safely
in the hands of waiting grace.
As it drifts into time and space
I imagine that one day
I will stand in this same place
and see the mast of your ship
approaching in the mist
and at last I will welcome you to the safe harbour
of my embrace.
I went through a period in which I wrote a letter and
seriously considered sending in off in a bottle. I decided against it, and wrote this poem instead.
